Progress in 2025
PEOPLE in 2025
Introduction
In 2025, Mercuria continued to invest in its people as the driving force behind the company’s global success. Across all business lines and regions, progress was made on key priorities including inclusiveness, diversity, equality of opportunity, employee health and well‑being, and the development of future‑ready skills. Close collaboration between our Group companies and Human Resources teams enabled us to track meaningful improvements in these areas, resulting in stronger employee engagement and retention. Our 2025 outcomes reflect Mercuria’s ongoing commitment to maintaining a workplace where colleagues feel valued, supported, and empowered to contribute to shared goals.
Diversity & inclusion
The diversity of Mercuria’s workforce remained one of our greatest strengths in 2025. Employees representing more than 70 nationalities worked across over 40 global locations, illustrating our reach and the truly international profile of the Group. This range of perspectives and experiences continued to foster innovation, agility, and a deeper understanding of our partners’ needs around the world.

Approximately one‑third of our global workforce are women, and women accounted for 21% of management roles. While we recognize there is still progress to be made in achieving full gender balance, 2025 saw further integration of diversity principles into our recruitment, succession planning, and talent‑development programs. New mentoring initiatives and targeted leadership opportunities for women helped to build a stronger pipeline for future senior roles.

Mercuria’s inclusiveness also extends to generational diversity. In 2025, the company’s employee age range spanned from early career professionals to those with several decades of experience, creating valuable opportunities for knowledge sharing and cross‑generational learning. The average employee tenure remains over 5 years, reflecting both job satisfaction and alignment with Mercuria’s values. These achievements underscore our commitment to providing an environment where diversity of thought, background, and experience drives continuous improvement.

Health, safety, Security & Environment
Mercuria monitors health and safety metrics within the people-focused pillar, covering its own employees, assets under its operational oversight, and contractors working on its behalf. As part of selecting business partners and service providers, Mercuria incorporates an evaluation of their health, safety, security and environmental (HSSE) standards and commitments through its Know-Your-Counterparty process, ensuring alignment with its own values. While the company’s reporting includes incidents involving contractors from those partners and service providers working for Mercuria, it does not seek to consider incidents related to the partners’ independent business activities apart from Mercuria, or individuals not involved in operations under Mercuria’s control or oversight.
In the event of an accident, Mercuria’s foremost priority is ensuring that all individuals involved receive proper medical care to assess the severity of any injury and are provided with treatment, as appropriate. We require that event reporting be factual and unbiased to support effective monitoring and governance of our operations. Cases where medical professionals conclude that no injury occurred, or that only first aid treatment was needed, are excluded from the incident metrics presented here.
Mercuria investigates all injury events, incidents involving damage or loss, and significant near-miss events—those in which conditions nearly resulted in harm. During these investigations, we encourage and expect the cooperation of all parties involved to help us in assessing the circumstances contributing to the event.
Mercuria is committed to protecting individuals who report concerns under our Whistleblowing Policy or share information about incidents or near-misses from negative or punitive consequences, provided their actions were not willfully contrary to established policies, procedures, or training. Mercuria also affords persons the right to raise concerns under its Whistleblowing Policy anonymously should they so choose. Mercuria also ensures that all employees and contractors are aware of the company’s Stop-Work Policy, which provides the authority for anyone to halt work activities if they believe that there are unsafe conditions or activities posing apparent health, safety, or environmental risks. In such instances, work is required to be suspended until management conducts a thorough assessment. This policy underscores Mercuria’s prioritization of safety over productivity goals or deadlines and assures that safety concerns can be raised by anyone, regardless of their role, without fear of retaliation or adverse consequences. These same policies are also applied across all Mercuria-related assets.
During the 2025 calendar year while nearly all operations were conducted with no incidents, there were 7 instances where individuals experienced injuries where formal medical attention was required, but where the individual fully recovered / healed with no lasting impact. Beyond these, there were 3 incidents that were permanent, or were life altering or fatalities.
* Exclusive of initial medical attention / assessment that is offered / provided to assess potential injuries, but where such examination concluded no formal medical care or treatment was necessary.
** Inclusive both of Mercuria’s employees and contractors working directly in support of Mercuria’s businesses.
As Mercuria continues to grow and expand its businesses, we are also mindful of the inherent risks tied to all our physical activities. Accordingly, we will continue our endeavors to provide and reinforce training and further improve our operations with the aim of mitigating or minimizing against circumstances that have potential to result in injuries. While our business and accordingly the related workforce has significantly expanded in recent years, the overall incident rate throughout our businesses remains low as compared with general industry peers. We are nevertheless striving to continuously improving our training and work practices as means of prudently mitigating against any persons being injured while at work, and ensuring that everyone returns home safely following their work assignments.
Well-being
We are pleased to report on a number of corporate initiatives at Mercuria that demonstrate our commitment to our employees’ well-being. We take pride in our efforts to foster a positive work culture that supports our employees’ well-being, growth, and development and have introduced several programs over the years to improve our employees’ health, safety, and well-being.
Around the world, we make programs available to employees include gym classes, fitness activities, and wellness workshops designed to promote a healthy lifestyle and prevent illnesses. Employee feedback informed further enhancements to flexible working practices and mental‑health awareness programs.
MM Marine photo competition
At Mercuria we are proud of our seafarers and the extraordinary work they do, spending long periods of time on our vessels. In early 2025 we ran our regular and popular photography competition for our seafarers across MM Marine to give a glimpse of the lives they lead at sea. Entries were submitted in either of two new categories; Our Ships and the Sea and Our People at Sea.
As usual, our seafarers were keen to take part, submitting hundreds of entries. After putting the shortlisted photographs to a vote across Mercuria, our employees selected two photographs as the winners. Congratulations to Juan Ronaldo Agdi Penda, an oiler on MT Amalthea for the photo “Greatest Love” in the Our Ships and the Sea category and also to Ιan Calabroso, 2nd Officer on MT Patmos for the photo “Always holding you in my heart, even my arms cannot, the reason of all hard work” in the Our People at Sea category. We want to thank everyone who participated in the contest and celebrate the winners;
